Oxfam America Hunger Banquet, Saturday June 22nd, 2013. 7:30-9:30pm. Statesville, NC. Location TBA. Intrigued by the idea of joining others for an interactive meal to change the world? Then the Oxfam America Hunger Banquet is for you. This powerful event lets participants experience firsthand how our decisions affect others in the world. Come away feeling empowered to make a tangible difference against hunger and poverty. Guests draw tickets at random that assign them each to a high-, middle-, or low-income tier based on the latest statistics about the number of people living in poverty. Each income level receives a corresponding meal: At the end, all guests are invited to share their thoughts and to take action to fight poverty. Oxfam America is an international relief and development organization that creates lasting solutions to poverty, hunger, and injustice. Together with individuals and local groups in more than 90 countries, Oxfam saves lives, helps people overcome poverty, and fights for justice.
